International IVF & PGD Centre in Cyprus was established in 1996 by Reproductive Genetics Institute (RGI), which is one of the most advanced and reputable medical institutions in the world in providing high quality services for infertility problems and genetic disorders. We were the first in the world to introduce a Polar Body (PB) based Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD). This new approach is the only hope for those couples who are at genetic risk, and who cannot accept Prenatal diagnosis that may be followed by the termination of affected pregnancies. Our doctors and scientists provide outstanding services that include Genetic Counseling, variety of effective In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) procedures, and continue to play a leading role in developing and performing the most advanced PGD procedures.

In addition to the state-of-the art IVF and Genetics Centre in Cyprus, RGI has a number of other satellite centers around the globe. These centers perform more than 3000 IVF cycles annually, with one of the highest pregnancy and birth rates in the world. Most of the modern techniques for Assisted Reproduction, such as ICSI and Assisted Hatching, are routinely available in all satellite centers, while PGD is offered in the US centers and the center in Cyprus.

Our experience in PGD is the largest in the world. We offer PGD for IVF patients of advanced maternal age, for paternally and maternally derived translocations and for any genetic condition for which there is a sufficient sequence information. Based on this information, special primers or chromosome specific probes are developed for accurate selection of mutation free oocytes and embryos to ensure the establishment of an unaffected pregnancy. At the present time, we have performed more than a thousand PGD cycles, which exceeds half of the world's experience, and has resulted in more than 200 pregnancies and births of healthy children.

International IVF and PGD Centre in Cyprus is known as the first center in the world to perform PGD for Thalassemia disorder, resulting in a cohort of healthy children born following the procedure. At the present time Cyprus is the only PGD center in the area and among the fewest in the world offering the whole range of PGD procedures to couples who are carriers of genetic disorders or to IVF patients of advanced maternal age.
