Fetal Skin Biopsy
Fetal Skin Biopsy involves the removal of fetal skin cells under ultrasound guidance. It is generally
performed at around 20 weeks of pregnancy.
Technique:
To perform a Fetal Skin Biopsy, our physician inserts a sampling device through the mother's abdomen into the
gestational sac and removes some fetal skin. The sample is then tested.

This procedure is offered to couples whose offspring are at
high risk for genetic skin disorders.
