We are currently looking for an Senior Geneticist for our Chicago location.
Work with a team of scientists to conduct research in the field of molecular genetics. Develop new techniques for genetic testing of oocytes, semen and embryos/blastomeres using cytogenetic and molecular genetic techniques including polar body analysis, PCR-based and WGA-based techniques, microarray analysis. Conduct research, gather data and make scientific conclusions that may lead to advances in the study of hereditary diseases such as cystic fibrosis, hemophilia, sickle cell disease, hereditary cancer and Alzheimers. Present results at scientific conferences, prepare publications. Develop new methods of preimplantation and preconception genetic diagnosis. Conduct trainings and provide troubleshooting for the new laboratory staff. Principles and techniques: polar body and blastomere genotyping; STR/SNP analysis by capillary electrophoresis; HLA genotyping; whole genome amplification and CGH microarray on single cells. PhD in Genetics plus 2 years of experience in the job offered or Staff Researcher (DNA) Genetic Testing Lab required. Previous experience must include: the development of new techniques for pre-implantation genetics; polar body and blastomere genotyping; STR/SNP analysis by capillary electrophoresis; HLA genotyping; whole genome amplification and CGH microarray on single cells. Must have one publication in the area of pre-implantation genetics.
This is a 40 hrs/week; 9am-5pm position.
